OUR DESIGN TEAM

Lydia Uzzell, DESIGN DIRECTOR & OWNER
Lydia’s knack for creating beautiful homes that function perfectly yet individually has made her a leading name in interior design in the Cayman Islands and beyond. Fascinated by people, with a wicked sense of humor and a love of all things design, she gets to know each and every client on a level that lets her create the best designed space for the way in which they live or work—whether it be a private residence or large-scale commercial project. Born and raised in New Zealand to Dutch parents, her wanderlust led her to Cayman, where she founded her business in 2009. She lives with her husband, Justin and their dog in an island cottage, from where they enjoy hosting dinner parties, mixing cocktails, and travelling to inspiring places!

Justin Uzzell, GENERAL MANAGER & OWNER
Joining the company in 2019, Justin has been an unofficial member of the Lydia Uzzell Interior Design team for years—hence he is more commonly referred to as “El Jefe.” He now lends his experience in publishing, photography and management — including 12 years as Publisher of InsideOut — to oversee the Lydia Uzzell Interior Design brand and operations. Inspired by a blend of contemporary, industrial design and charming old-world interiors, the latter has trickled into life outside of the design world. Justin loves cooking, especially when fire is involved, games (a throwback to the days without television), books (the paper kind), motorcycles, and traveling near and far.

JILL JAMES, LOGISTICS MANAGER
Jill’s background in operations, accounting and human resources keeps the Lydia Uzzell Interior Design office ticking like clockwork. Cool, calm and collected with an eye for detail she knows how to get things done on-island, managing our little black book of architects, contractors and suppliers. Having been involved in nearly every single Lydia Uzzell Interior Design project, she doesn’t like to play favourites but thinks that each design project is special in its own way—she describes working on clients’ homes as similar to the countdown to Christmas Day, except that at the end of it all, sadly you don’t get to keep anything.
